If you are a local business, it is essential that you claim your Google My Business profile. The main reason is that when a searcher types in your company’s name into the search bar, you have the opportunity to showcase your brand. There are a dozen other reasons to have a Google my business profile that I will address in another lengthy post. But here I just wanted to answer some commonly asked questions.
How much does it cost?
Getting up a Google My Business page is free. Anyone can sign-up for a Google My Business Page.
What is the difference between Google My Business and Google +?
Google My Business is the administrator side of your Google Business Profile, while your Google + page is the customer facing side. On your Google + page customers can see your pictures, reviews, hours, and payment methods, while the GMB page allows the administrator to make page changes, see the page’s performance, and respond to customer reviews.
Do I need a GMB if I already have a website?
YES! Your GMB page allows you to be visible on Google Maps and sets up your business profile on Google search results pages. It is a necessary complement to your existing website.
Can I still use Google My Business if I don’t have a storefront?
If you are home-based business, or you service your customers out in the field, it is possible to appear on Google without a physical address. It is feasible to outline a service area on your Google My Business Profile.
